Our Commitment

Daughters of Haiti is committed to ethical leadership, financial integrity, and responsible governance. Transparency and accountability are central to how we steward resources, serve our community, and build trust with partners and supporters.

Governance

Daughters of Haiti is governed by a fiduciary Board of Directors responsible for oversight, financial stewardship, and strategic direction. The Board ensures the organization operates in compliance with state and federal nonprofit regulations and remains aligned with its mission.

The Board is separate from day-to-day management and provides independent oversight of the organization’s activities.

Leadership

The organization is led by an Executive Director who manages daily operations, programs, fundraising, and partnerships. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors, ensuring a clear separation between governance and management.

Financial Accountability

Daughters of Haiti files an annual IRS Form 990 and complies with charitable reporting requirements of the State of Illinois. The Board of Directors reviews financial activity and maintains internal controls to ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources. Daughters of Haiti operates on a fiscal year ending June 30 and undergoes regular board review of financial performance and compliance filings.

To support ethical conduct and compliance, Daughters of Haiti maintains the following board-approved policies:

These policies are reviewed periodically by the Board of Directors.
